About the shop
Who works on your gun, and how a job actually runs here.
Split-Trigger Gunworx is a gunsmith shop in Piedmont, South Carolina. It is a small operation, and that is on purpose. The person who writes your estimate is the same person standing at the bench with your gun in his hands.
We are licensed federally, which means we can take a firearm in, work on it, and send it back where it came from. Plenty of our work walks through the door from Greenville, Anderson, Easley and Powdersville. Plenty more shows up in a box from states we have never set foot in. Both are welcome and both get handled the same way.
We work on handguns, rifles and shotguns. Carry guns, 1911s, ARs, bolt guns, lever guns, and older doubles that need a slower hand and a lot more patience.
There is no retail floor here. No wall of accessories, no register up front, none of the overhead that comes with running a store. That is a big part of why our prices come in under the national chains and we can still do the work right. You are paying for time at a bench, not for a building.
If a job is outside what we do well, we say so. That happens a few times a year, usually with specialty engraving or some obsolete European action, and we would rather point you at the right shop than take your money and learn on your gun.

We tell you when to walk away
Some guns are not worth the repair. Some upgrades will not fix the problem you actually have. We would rather lose the ticket than sell you the wrong work.
Machine work stays here
Cuts, threading, chambering and coating happen on our equipment, in this building. Nothing gets shipped out to a third party and marked up on the way back.
It gets shot
Any job that touches the fire control, the feeding or the barrel is test fired before it goes back to you. If it will not run here, it does not leave.
Safety and the law
We are a Federal Firearms Licensee. Every gun that comes in is logged, cleared and locked up, and it goes back only to the person legally entitled to receive it.
Bring firearms in unloaded and cased, with the magazine out and the action open. Leave ammunition in the vehicle. If you are not sure a gun is safe to move, call us before you move it. That goes double for a stuck round or an obstructed bore.
We will not do work that would make a firearm unsafe or unlawful, and we do not take on jobs that fall outside what our license covers. If you ask for something in that category we will tell you no and tell you why.

Turnaround, honestly
These are the ranges we actually hit. You get a specific date once we have the gun in front of us.
- Sights, bore sighting, cleaning: a few days
- Repairs and diagnosis: about a week, longer if a part is on order
- Slide cuts and threading: one to two weeks depending on the queue
- Cerakote: two to three weeks, because the bake schedule sets the pace
- Bluing and stock refinishing: three to five weeks
- Slow rust bluing and restoration: quoted per job, usually months
Hunting season and the weeks in front of it are the busiest stretch of the year. If you need a rifle ready for an opener, get it to us early instead of hoping.
